Who we are

NabuChess is a chess coaching platform run by NabuSuite. These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use nabuchess.com. Questions about them go to support@nabuchess.com.

Accounts

You need an account to use the app. Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account.

If you are under 16, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you and should know which coach you are working with.

Coaches are responsible for the students they invite, for what they teach in their classes and for the material they upload.

Plans and payment

Student accounts are free. Silver costs $29.99 a month or $299.99 a year for up to 25 active students and 20 hours of live class video a month. Gold costs $39.99 a month or $399.99 a year for up to 50 active students and 40 hours of live class video a month. Platinum costs $49.99 a month or $499.99 a year for up to 100 active students and 80 hours of live class video a month. Academies with more than 100 students agree a price with us. The AI coach costs $9.99 a month. Prices exclude any sales tax your country adds at checkout.

Student accounts are free. Coach tools and the AI coach come with a paid plan on your account; a plan your account holds works in this app too.

Every paid plan starts with a 7-day free trial and needs a card. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, the plan starts and your card is charged each month (or each year on a yearly plan) until you cancel.

A paid plan renews each month (or each year on a yearly plan) until it is cancelled. Cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep access until the end of the period already paid for. We don't refund part months unless the law requires it.

Payments are handled by Stripe. You can change or cancel your plan any time from Billing; cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep access until the end of the period you paid for. We don't refund part months unless the law requires it.

If a payment fails we tell you and retry. A coach plan that stays unpaid is paused: classes and new homework stop, and your students keep their own accounts and history.

Your content

You own what you create here: lessons you write or copy and change, homework, comments, notes and videos you upload. You give us the permission we need to store it, process it (for example, turning a video into streamable segments) and show it to the people you share it with.

Only upload material you have the right to use. We remove content when we are told, with reason, that it infringes someone's rights or breaks these terms.

The core curriculum, puzzles and site design belong to us or our licensors. Puzzles come from the Lichess puzzle database, which is published under CC0.

Downloaded videos

Videos you download for offline viewing are stored encrypted on your device and stop playing after 30 days or when you lose access to the coach or lesson. This protects coaches from casual copying; it is not studio-grade DRM, and you agree not to try to extract or share downloaded videos.

Acceptable use

Don't use NabuChess to harass anyone, to share illegal or sexual content, to cheat in games or rated events elsewhere, to scrape the site, or to probe or overload our systems.

Live classes are for teaching. Coaches can admit, mute and remove participants; we can suspend accounts that break these rules.

The AI coach

The AI coach writes plans and answers from your own NabuChess activity and the public games of accounts you link. It can be wrong. Treat it as advice, not as a guarantee of results, and check anything important with a human coach.

Third-party services

Some features use other services: Stripe for payments, Google for sign-in if you choose it, Lichess and Chess.com for linked games, and the Lichess cloud evaluation for engine numbers. Their own terms apply to what they do.

Ending your account

You can delete your account any time in Settings, under Account. Its plan ends at once and isn't charged again, and your data goes as the privacy notice describes. You can also ask us at support@nabuchess.com from the email address on the account. We can close accounts that break these terms; where we can, we tell you first and give you time to take your content with you.

Liability

We work hard to keep NabuChess running and your data safe, but the service is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have that the law says can't be limited.

Changes

When we change these terms in a way that matters, we tell you by email or in the app at least 14 days before the change applies. If you keep using NabuChess after that, the new terms apply.
