Chess coaching that closes the loop

Set a week of work in minutes. Your students see exactly what to do, tick it off as they go, and you get the truth about what was actually done — not a guess at the next lesson.

Three things every coaching tool gets wrong

We built NabuChess around the week, not the lesson — because that is where the work actually happens.

Plan a week, not a lesson

Recurring tasks repeat themselves. One-off work drops onto a day. Save a week as a template and reuse it for the next student at the same level.

Many coaches, one list

A student can have an opening coach, a tactics coach and a club trainer. They still see one merged week, and every task says who set it.

Progress you can defend

Completion, accuracy, puzzle rating and opening coverage in one view. When a parent asks what changed this month, you have the answer.

Build the week once, repeat it forever

Drop tasks onto days. Mark the ones that repeat and they reappear every week until you stop them. Save the whole week as a template and apply it to any student in two clicks.

Recurring and one-off in the same view
Daily tactics sits next to a one-off game review without you managing two systems.
Templates per level
A 1200 week and a 1900 week look nothing alike. Keep both and pick at assignment time.
Load warnings
If three coaches all assign on Tuesday, you see it before the student does.

Your games, an engine, and a plan that follows

Pull your games from Lichess or Chess.com, or drop in a PGN. Run the analysis, then turn the mistake it finds into next week's task without leaving the board.

Stockfish 17.1, on our machines
Nothing to install and nothing to download. The engine runs server-side, cancels the moment you change ply, and answers the position you are actually looking at.
Opening explorer with your own games
See where you leave theory, how much it costs you, and which line to drill first.
One click from mistake to task
Assign a position, a line or a whole review to a student straight from the analysis board.

“I used to spend the first ten minutes of every lesson finding out what had been done. Now I open the week, see it, and we start at the board.”

Questions we get asked

Where do the puzzles come from?

The Lichess open database, released under CC0 — 6,057,356 puzzles indexed, filtered by rating and theme, refreshed daily. No attribution obligation and no runtime dependency on their API.

Can a student have more than one coach?

Yes — up to 3. An opening coach, a tactics coach and a club trainer can all set work. The student sees one merged week with each task labelled by who set it, and controls what each coach can see.

Do I need to be a coach to use it?

No. Anyone can play, train and analyse. You only need coach status before students can be assigned to you — and a coach can be someone else's student at the same time.

Which engine do you run?

Stockfish 17.1 with NNUE, in a pool on our servers. Nothing is installed on your machine and no engine code is downloaded to the browser, so analysis works the same on a laptop and a borrowed Chromebook.

Can I bring games from elsewhere?

Connect Lichess or Chess.com and they sync every six hours. Or drop a PGN file in, or paste one straight into the board.

What happens to my data if I leave?

Everything exports: plans, games, annotations, video notes and student progress, in open formats. The export stays available for 30 days after you cancel, and deleting the account removes it all within 30 days.
